Fast forward to nine years later, when Peter decided it was time to take the next step and ask Michaela to be his wife. His proposal was everything Michaela could have dreamed of—a romantic surprise in the Dominican Republic, where Peter had planned an intimate dinner on the beach. But, of course, true to the unpredictable nature of life, it was the one evening of their entire holiday that rain decided to make an appearance. 

 

“That evening was so memorable,” Michaela recalls, laughing. “The rain definitely didn’t spoil the moment—it just made it more special in a way.” 

 

And so, a love that began as a friendship blossomed into an engagement—and, ultimately, a wedding day that no one would soon forget.
