outdoor wedding venue

Getting out into nature is very on trend and with the rise in popularity of tipi weddings and other outdoor weddings it is important, if you are considering such a wedding, to consider how you will adapt your outdoor space to keep your guests from being uncomfortable throughout the day and into the night. Any fears you might have about the potential for transforming tipis and their surrounding spaces into comfortable havens should be assuaged by the fact that where tipis are concerned, anything goes. If you want soft furnishings, supply soft furnishings. If you want a fire pit to provide warmth, go for it (in the centre of the tipi only). Toasted marshmallows are, of course, obligatory. Mood lighting? Fine! The possibilities are endless. Let's delve a little deeper into some of the more imaginative ideas of how to add a touch of home comfort to your outdoor wedding venue

Weather Related Ideas

While there are some ideas that are perfect for all conditions any of the tips for keeping guests comfortable at an outdoor wedding venue will come down to the weather. If the weather is hot, which many planning an outdoor wedding will hope for, then you should make sure your indoor spaces, like tipis, are well ventilated. Bring in fans and make sure you have more than enough ice for drinks throughout the day. If the weather is poor or it is likely to cool down a lot at night, providing plenty of blankets as well as the aforementioned fire will win you lots of goodwill! On hot days there's nothing better than an ice cream or ice lolly. You can ask a local ice cream van if they are happy to pitch up for the day or hire a wedding specialist ice cream cart. Providing little stands with buckets of ice and water around the venue is also a great idea as is the provision of sunscreen, insect repellent and if we're talking summertime, citronella candles for the evening.
The ceremony

During any outdoor ceremony make sure that all the guests have a clear view of the main action and avoid laying out the chairs so that people cannot freely move along the aisles. There's nothing worse that one of your guests having to disturb their whole row if they need to get up to use the facilities.

Shade

Whether you are taking advantage of any trees in the vicinity or erecting a few handy gazebos there is no substitute for the provision of ample shade at an outdoor wedding. Having multiple little shaded areas allows for a more natural flow of conversation and mingling.

Dress code flexibility

Outdoor weddings do necessitate a bit of leeway when it comes to clothing. There's no use making everyone wear suits when it's going to be 35 degrees, for instance. Give people a choice and it'll make for a far better atmosphere on the day. There's nothing worse than sweating the day and night away in inappropriate attire.
